MISSION PRACTICUM I
(4 Credits)
Course Description
This course requires the student to participate in a one-week mission trip
to a location of a different culture, preferably that of an unreached people
group. This may take place during
the summer or the academic year. During the trip, the student is expected to be actively
involved in evangelism and to apply his knowledge in cross-cultural ministry.
The student is also required to attend pre-trip preparatory sessions.
A report on the student’s involvement in the mission trip will need to
be prepared for submission and grading. Prerequisite:
Spiritual Formation
of a Missionary, Personal Evangelism and Cultural Aspect of Missions.
Course Objective
To expose the student to ministry in a cross-cultural setting, so as to experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
To allow the student to apply the principles of cross-cultural ministry in the mission field.
To enable the student to work with others as a team in ministering in the
mission field.
Course Content
A minimum of 15 hours of classroom preparation for the mission trip which will include the following activities:

Getting to know one another within the team so as to develop team spirit and unity. | |

Praying for one another within the team and interceding for the unreached people group the team will be reaching out to. | |

Getting to know the cultural, social and spiritual aspect of the unreached people group the team is going to reach out to. | |
|
Revision of Principles of Cross-cultural Ministry taken from the Cultural Aspect of Missions. | |
|
Exhorting and edifying one another with passages from Scripture. | |
|
Any other administrative and logistic matters. |
A minimum of 30 hours of personal preparation during personal devotion and other free time.
A minimum of 7 days of active evangelism among the unreached people
group. If possible, include planting a church in that location as an objective for the trip.
