Equipping YOU for the Harvest
EPHESUS SCHOOL OF MISSIONS & EVANGELISM (E-SOME)
E-SOME is the equipping arm of AMEN.
IntroductionActs 19 tells us that the Apostle Paul started a church in the city of Ephesus with only about 12 believers (v. 7). After encountering some resistance from the Jews in the synagogue, Paul brought the believers to the lecture hall of Tyrannus where he had daily discussions with them (v. 8-9). The result was that in two years, "all the Jews and Greeks who lived in the province of Asia heard the word of the Lord" (v. 10). Our School is named Ephesus because we want our graduates and students to be as effective as Paul's trainees at Ephesus, able to evangelize the unreached people in Asia. While Paul's trainees evangelized the entire province of Asia where Ephesus was the capital at that time, it is our desire that our own Ephesus' graduates and students will evangelize the Continent of Asia and even Beyond.
Years later, Paul wrote a letter to this same church at Ephesus telling them, "It was He (i.e. Christ) who gave SOME to be apostles, SOME to be prophets, SOME to be evangelists, and SOME to be pastors and teachers . . ." (Ephesians 4:11). And so it is our desire that SOME of our graduates will also called to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastor-teachers. Hence, the name of our School is abbreviated as E-SOME, which stands for Ephesus School of Missions and Evangelism.
From the Philippines to the Nations
E-SOME is the first ministry of AMEN launched in the Philippines. It began in 1997 when its training program was first made available to Full Gospel Worship Center in Umingan, Pangasinan. In 2000, the School began to network with other churches and Bible schools in establishing extension centers in other parts of the Philippines. Today there are more than 150 students undergoing the E-SOME Training Program in the Philippines; from Luzon down to Mindanao.
Many graduates and former students of E-SOME are working in the mission field, planting and pastoring churches in both the lowlands and the mountainous regions of the Philippines. Some are also serving as tentmakers abroad in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and other parts of Asia. See our REACH Ministry link.
Since June 2004, E-SOME has been offering its training program to churches, mission schools and agencies, as well as individuals outside the Philippines through this website, making missionary training more accessible and affordable to the Church of Asia and Beyond. Today E-SOME has training centers in all over Asia and even Africa. See our Global Network link.
