ASIAN RELIGIONS & CULTS
(3 Credits)

Course Description

This course introduces
to the student the doctrines and practices of the various religions found in the Philippines and other parts of Asia, such as Roman Catholicism, Aglipayanism, and Islam.  Cults like Iglesia Ni Cristo, Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Church of the Latter-Day Saints (Mormons) and Oneness will also be covered.  Emphasis is placed in developing both the burden and tactics in reaching out to these groups.

Course Objective

  1. To acquaint the student with the various major religions and pseudo-Christian cults in Asia, their beliefs and teachings, as well as their background and development.

  2. To develop in the student a burden and a compassion to reach-out to the people of other religions.
